Troy Hansel
Country Director, Laos
Troy started work with WCS in Lao PDR in 1996. He and government counterparts started the WCS cooperative training and education program to build government officials' capacity for wildlife conservation and an outreach program to create a body of people aware of the unique wildlife in Lao PDR. This became the basis for training and education in Nam Et Phou Louey and Nam Kading NPAs in Lao PDR. In May 2012, Troy became Director of the WCS Lao Program.
Anita Bousa
Wildlife Monitoring Program Coordinator
Anita graduated with a Bachelor of Sciene in Biology from the National Univerity of Lao PDR in 2007 with an emphasis on wildlife monitoring. Anita worked for WCS from 2007-2011 as a project field coordinator, conducting surveys on tiger and tiger prey populations in Nam Et – Phou Louey NPA. She recently returned from a one year internship with Earth Corps and is now back with WCS coordinating wildlife monitoring projects in various sites.
Phonphasong Louangaphaiyalath
Nam Et – Phou Louey NPA Wildlife Monitoring Officer
Phonepasong Louangaphaiyalath completed his Bachelor of Forestry at the National University of Laos. This is his first job in the field of conservation since completing his final year research project with the WCS Lao program. The topic of his thesis was "Assessment of Human and Elephant Conflict in Vilabouli District, Savannakhet Province". He is very interested in wildlife conservation as a career and particulary keen to learn about wildlife survey techniques.
